COLLABORATION

UENR Health Services will work in partnership with the Bono Regional Health

Directorate/Regional COVID 19 response team.

LOGISTICS

1. Transport-National ambulance services and University transport service

2. PPE’s (to be supplied by government)

3. Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, tissue papers, hand washing soaps (also

to be supplied by government

4. We have put in a budget for the university to procure its own PPE’s to

augment what the government will provide

CREATION OF HOLDING CENTER

1. There will be creation of a six bed capacity holding center to

manage suspected cases and mild confirm cases

2. Nurses will also be assigned to the holding center 24 hours a day

CONTROL AND PREVENTION OF SPREAD

1. There would be enforcement of the wearing of nose mask at lecture halls

and at all gatherings for all staff and students

2. There will be veronica buckets filled with water, with soap, and tissue papers

placed at vantage/entry points for handwashing.

3. All staff and students must have their personal hand sanitizers.

4. All staff and students must ensure and practise social distancing

5. Pre-triaging will be done at the clinic

There will be continuous education / health talk on Covid-19 at Lecture Halls and

Greena FM 95.9 (campus based radio station) as well as the University Clinic

SURVEILLANCE

1. Screening – There will be temperature checks of all persons entering the

University, lecture halls, offices by the security using the gun thermometer.

2. Pre-triage at the clinic

3. Nurses will administer Covid-19 questionnaire

4. Contact listing and tracing

CONTACT LISTING AND TRACING

This process involves three steps;

a. Contact identification

b. listing and

c. follow-up of contacts.

i. The first step is contact identification which involves asking the infected

person about his/her activities and the roles of the people around him/her

from two days before the onset of symptoms.

ii. A contact is a person who interacts with a laboratory confirmed COVID-19

patient while symptomatic or two days before symptom onset

MANAGEMENT OF SUSPECTED CASE(S)

1. Temperatures 38° degrees and above will be further screened at the

University clinic.

2. Questionnaires would be administered.

3. If a person scores 2 or more symptoms of COVID, the person will be sent to

the holding room for further evaluation by the University Medical Doctor.

4. The Regional Response Team will call for sample to be taken for COVID -19

test.

5. The patient will remain in the holding room until the results is confirmed

MANAGEMENT OF CONFIRMED CASE(S)

1. All confirmed (Asymptomatic) mild cases would be treated at the holding

center

2. Moderate/ severe cases will be referred to treatment centers at the Bono

Regional Hospital or Sunyani Municipal Hospital.

DORMAA CAMPUS

• The University has signed an MOU with the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital to

take care of health needs of the staff and students. Hence staff of the

Presbyterian Hospital will handle all suspected cases of Covid-19 on

Dormaa Campus.
